Look at these babies… You know you want one!

Mmmm...

Enjoying the spoils
I have been giving mike a hard time for a week now for listening to Christmas music already. Craziness… That is, craziness according to me. But… apparently he is not the only one doing this! Every day I hear of someone else I know joining in this craziness! Craziness I tell you!
I can’t start listening to Christmas music until the day after Thanksgiving. It feels anti climactic to start before then. I don’t know how to explain it… it just feels wrong. And how can you just skip over Thanksgiving?! Seriously! Craziness!
So… do you? or don’t you? Let me know… Mike would like more people on his side so he can be exonerated in his crimes.
I love the fall season. Warm days, cool nights, leaves changing colors, mountains dusted with snow…

This was taken with my Iphone as I dropped the kids off at school. This view can only make for a wonderful day!
Matt LOVES scouts and wasted no time advancing to a Bobcat from Wolf. Good job Buddy!!!

I cut my hair about… never. Mike spends way more on hair cuts and product than I do, which is just fine with me… I am a pretty low key hair person… until my hair just starts driving me crazy one day. It usually happens once every two years. Then I have to spend the next couple days wondering what I should do with it. Should I highlight it? Chop it off? Trim it? Layer it? Do something conservative or daring? I scour crowds of heads to find inspiration, I flip through magazine pages looking for ideas… and usually I have it narrowed down to about two ideas and I let my hairdresser talk me in to one of them…
This time I knew I wanted a color change (low lights and high lights) but as far as a style goes I was drawing a huge blank. The day of my appointment came and I had nothing… Great! How not fun!!!
So I got the color done and ended up getting just a trim to a few inches below my shoulders, but I did get bangs cut (which I’m still not sure I like…)

awesome self portrait eh?
I really liked the color but I was bored with the hair still… hmmm, what to do? what to do???
Cut it again?

MUCH Better!!!
I finally found some inspiration in a magazine picture. Thank you. I went back about two days after the first cut with my picture. I can do some really fun stuff with it now and I am much happier with it… (not that you can really tell what fun I can do with it in this picture… in typical fashion I have it clipped up…)
Thank you for happy endings!
I’m only about five weeks late with this
. Sorry babe. You caught me in my blogging dead zone… It really has nothing to do with how much I love you… Promise
We had a dual party for Mike and my cousin Melanie. It was a wonderful night spent with super fun family members! Mike is now completely geared up for next seasons golf course (minus golf clubs as those are a very personal decision). Shirts, shorts, shoes, gloves, socks, balls, and a loaner set of clubs for now. He is pretty excited to hit the driving range and try out lots of different clubs and maybe next year he can snag some he really likes. Happy Birthday baby!

Cake Time!
Do you ever go through those phases where you just don’t feel like blogging? I have had plenty to write about but have always had something else more fun or more important to do… usually it was something more important
because what is more fun than blogging right?
I am repenting now, but it would seriously take 72 hours straight to catch up on it all! I get overwhelmed just thinking about it… so over the next few days I will attempt to update all of you on the last months goings on. Let me forewarn you it is nothing earth shattering
but will be fun nonetheless. See you soon!
We were visiting the Logan family Wednesday just because we can and when Chelsea came over to teach some piano lessons, Matt asked if he could have a lesson too! (he asked all on his own without any prompting from me… that certainly did not come from my genes, I hated piano lessons when I was a kid) I think it helps that he has heard all of the Hicken kids playing, and they are really good. He has realized how good it can sound when you work hard at it.
She had a little bit of time before her first student so she offered to give him a lesson. He LOVED it! If only we had a piano at home so he could keep it up… Hmmm, maybe it’s time to find one…
Thank you Chelsea!

doin' awesome
This is how I spent my weekend…

filling the sink

and in buckets on the ground...
The kids and I went up to Logan this weekend to harvest the apples at my aunt and uncle’s house. My aunt and I spent the WHOLE day canning apple pie filling. By mid day we had it wittled down a little bit…

still a lot of apples...
but we still had a lot to do so we kept going… and going…

the two handed peel
… we employed the aid of others in the house…
(the kids also helped peel lots of apples, but I was bad and didn’t get pictures. darn it)
At about six, we broke for a yummy pizza dinner at Frederico’s…
I LOVE their salads with pickled beets! and then…
back to the apples…

beautiful apples... and super yummy
It was a wonderful day filled with hard work, laughter, yummy smells, and tasty apples! I loved it. Super therapeutic… and now I have lots of apple pie filling to put in my pantry…
Thank you for a wonderful day Shirlene!
